July 4th: K9 Night

As part of Monona Community Festival’s Giving Back Initiative,

We are thrilled to announce that July 4th will be “K9 Night”

All tips garnered at the bar on the 4th will be donated to Monona Police Department Facility Service Dog Program.

Recon’s Role in Monona Grove Schools

Officer Luke serves the role of law enforcement officer, public safety educator, and informal counselor,

Recon’s job focuses on emotional and therapeutic support. Her presence is designed to:

• De-escalate Crisis: Assist students experiencing sensory overload or emotional breakdowns by providing a grounding, calming presence.
• Bridge the Gap: Act as an “icebreaker” to help students connect with Officer Luke, fostering a safer and more positive school climate.
• Support Literacy: Act as a “Reading Buddy,” providing a non-judgmental ear for students building confidence in literacy or speech.

Boost Morale: Lower stress levels for both staff and students through daily, positive interactions.
