Q. Where does the money from the festival go?
A. Other than the operating budget, all the profits go back into the community in many ways. Over the years the Monona Festival Committee has donated significant funds to various sources, including:
- Monona Police & Fire Departments
- Monona Public Library Building Fund
- Monona Dream Park, Winnequah Park Gazebo & Monona Parks Dept donations
- Construction of the Children’s Pool at the Monona Public Pool
- Annual scholarship to Monona Grove High School & donations to area high school booster clubs
- Annual donation to the Monona Senior Center
Q. Does the festival recycle any of the trash after the festival?
A. Yes! In fact, we partner with local Boy Scout troops who sweep the park grounds after the festival and then separate out recyclables from the trash. We are happy to make a yearly donation to these hardworking young men – see just how much they do in the pictures below!
